Callista's Travel Journal

A Sagittarian's favorite hobby....

There is nothing a Sagittarius loves more than traveling! And I'm no exception. So far, I've been to 26 states and the District of Columbia, 5 Canadian provinces, Scotland, England, and Japan! Everywhere I go I take a lot of pictures.

My family used to travel to Vermont every summer by car, passing through Indiana, Michigan, Ontario, and Quebec, or taking the alternative route of Ohio and New York state. Often we'd stop over in New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, or Prince Edward Island to visit family, friends, or just to tour.

I went to Colorado, Montana, California, and Utah when I was very young and I only remember pieces of Arches National Monument, Yosemite, and Los Angeles.

Living so close to Missouri, Iowa, Michigan, and Wisconsin, we've gone to those states quite a few times for snow-skiing, cave-hunting, and Mark Twain-following.

I went to San Antonio, Texas for my older brother's graduation from Air Force Boot Camp at Shepherd Air Force Base.

I saw Kentucky and Tennessee on a high school choir trip. We went to the Grand Old Opry for the National Showchoir Contest.

Maryland, Washington D.C., and Virginia were part of a school trip to see the sites of American Government and History. Pennsylvania was also an American history trip but with the family instead. We went to Philadelphia to see the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. Then a few years later, we went to Gettysburg, site of the famous Civil War battle.

For a graduation present, June of 99, my dad took me to see California for the "first" time(don't remember the real first time), well San Francisco and the Redwood Forest anyway.

In Spring of 2000, I returned to Washington D.C. for the Millenium March, and 2 months later, I went with a church choir to England and Scotland for 2 weeks.

In the summer of 2001, I went to Japan as part of a Sister Cities program with a bunch of teachers and students. We were in Ashikaga, Japan, 3 hours from Tokyo, for 10 days visiting Japanese schools and places of interest. My favorite place was the famous National Park, Nikko. Being an Anime fan, I knew more of the Japanese language and culture than anyone else on the trip and I think I made the teachers mad by showing off my knowledge. ;)

My most recent trip was to Alabama for the first time in September 2002 to see my brother graduate from Officer's Training (*shudders*)
