Callista the Traveling Freak
Washington D.C.

My first trip to DC was a school trip the week after school ended, June 1997. We were there for only 3 days but I filled 6 rolls of 36 film and 1 24 roll because there was just so much to snapshot. We saw everything we possibly could, the Capitol, Washington Monument, Lincoln Monument, Jefferson Monument, the Holocaust Museum, John F. Kennedy Center for the Arts, Arlington National Cemetary, the Vietnam and Korean War Memorials, Union Station, George Washington's plantation home in Virginia, the Smithsonian, in fact, the only thing we couldn't get into was the White House!

I went to DC for the second time in April 2000 for the Millenium March. It was a huge GLBT (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender) parade in the Mall (the big grassy area between the Capitol and the Washington Monument) that they have every few years. We also went to the Equality Rocks concert at John F. Kennedy Stadium featuring great musicians and stars, both gay and straight, such as Ellen Degeneres, Anne Heche, Melissa Etheredge, George Michael, Tipper Gore, Rosie O'Donnell, Garth Brooks, Kirsten Johnson (Sally on Third Rock) and a bunch of others. In the Mall the next day Clinton spoke along with other stars who didn't make it for the concert. I heard there were over one million people there that day.

I don't have my pics scanned in yet, but I promise you I will and there are A LOT of them! =)
